Coccidioidomycosis:
An infectious fungal disease caused by the inhalation of spores of Coccidioides immitis, which are carried on windblown dust particles. The disease is endemic in hot, dry regions of the Southwestern United States and Central and South America. It is considered an AIDS-defining opportunistic infection in persons with HIV infection.
